The rules of engagement for using NeuronWallet and the open-source Neuron desktop wallet.
Acceptance of terms
By downloading, installing, or using NeuronWallet (the open-source Neuron desktop wallet and related website), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the software or the site. These terms may change; continued use after changes means you accept the updated version.
Eligibility and prohibited use
You must be of legal age and authorized to use the software in your jurisdiction. You may not use NeuronWallet for illegal activities, fraud, sanctions evasion, money laundering, or any activity that violates applicable laws. You may not modify, distribute, or represent the software in a way that could mislead users into believing it is an official release if it is not.
Self-custody means self-responsibility
NeuronWallet is a self-custodial wallet. We do not hold your keys, your recovery phrase, or your funds. You are solely responsible for backing up and safeguarding your seed phrase, password, and keystore. If you lose access, we cannot recover it. Anyone with your recovery phrase can control your assets.
Open-source license
NeuronWallet is distributed under the MIT open-source license. You may view, copy, modify, and redistribute the source code subject to the terms of that license. The MIT license is included in the source repository and applies separately from these Terms of Use.
No warranty and no liability
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS, CONTRIBUTORS, OR MAINTAINERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES, OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE.
Risks of crypto assets
Cryptocurrencies are volatile, experimental, and subject to technical, regulatory, and market risks. Transactions on public blockchains are irreversible. Nothing on this site or in the application constitutes financial, legal, or tax advice. Do not risk more than you can afford to lose.
Third-party services and links
NeuronWallet may provide links to third-party services, block explorers, hardware-wallet vendors, or node providers. These services are governed by their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for their availability, security, or conduct.
Intellectual property
The NeuronWallet name, logo, and branding are property of the project. The source code is open source under MIT. You may not use our branding to imply endorsement, sponsorship, or official affiliation without written permission.
Governing law and dispute resolution
These Terms of Use are governed by the laws applicable to the project. Any dispute shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If a dispute cannot be resolved, it shall be submitted to the competent courts in the jurisdiction where the project maintains its legal presence.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. The most current version will be posted at this URL with an effective date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
